Hoping These Make Summer Chores Less Of A Punishment. I am reviewing these gators as a gift, which I had sent to one of my sisters, when she started talking about how much she dreads having to mow the lawn, once the heat and humidity come to stay. I had not read all the reviews, and seen how several mentioned these gators being tight on large people. If I had seen that, I might not have ordered them. My sister sounded somewhat upbeat about them, but I detected a bit of reserve in her reaction to them. If I hear anything more, whether negative or positive, once she starts putting them to use, I will adjust this review, but for now, I am hoping they will help make her summer chores a bit more comfortable. This might not be a luxurious kind of gift, but if a gator can keep her cool, that is a good thing.
This is a spandex material that is not super stretchy and a little longer than is necessary. It would be good for folks who want to double it over to cover the whole head, or want a more durable fabric. I will be cutting it down to a shorter size, and using it as a headband personally.
Ordered these expecting they would be too tight for my husband, which it is. I ordered primarily for myself and my daughters. I am very fair skinned – Scottish/German decent, red head. I live in West TX and often deal with sunburn. We have a trip to Big Bend planned for May, and I really wanted to find ways to keep cool and prevent burns.
I tried this out this past weekend while fishing at the lake. It is long & tight, so it can take a little effort to position how you want it, fitting it over the head. However, it protected my neck from sun burn. Dampened with water it should provide a nice cooling effect when we go hiking in the desert at Big Bend.
These are very nice looking. I like them and they do their job.
I ordered this gaiter in black. What’s shown in the photos for “black” is a plain, black gaiter with black stitching. Unfortunately what was received was quite a bit different. The primary color of the gaiter is black, but the stitching is bright white and there’s an enormous, multicolor logo printed on one side. I was hoping for plain black but no such luck, the photos aren’t accurate.
That being said I still left 4 stars on this gaiter, simply because the fit is good, the material feels quality and breathable, and the price is about right. Sadly I don’t think I’ll make much use of it given that it has that walking-billboard feel that comes with oversized logos placed front and center. If you’re looking at the photos and anticipating a plain color gaiter, this isn’t the one.
